OSAS Holds Annual Freshmen Orientation
The Office of the Student Affairs Services (OSAS) held the annual freshman orientation program at Gov. Feliciano “Sanoy” Leviste Multi-Purpose Memorial Gymnasium, June 17-18.
The said yearly event aims to familiarize the freshmen students of the different services they can avail while inside the University.
Executive Director for Main I and Lobo Campuses Prof. Rogelio Antenor welcomed the students in the program. After the welcome remarks, University President Dr. Tirso Ronquillo presented in his message the plans of the University for the coming year. Dr. Ronquillo stressed the scholarship grants the University offers for the students.
Former Governor Hon. Hermilando Mandanas also rendered a message during the program as the representative of the Board of Regents.
Representatives from Student Organizations and Activities (SOA), Office of Student Discipline (OSD), Office of Guidance and Counselling (OGC), Office of Student Publication, Scholarship and Financial Assistance Office (SFAO), and Multi-Faith Services discussed how the said offices work and help the students.

BatStateU hosts PLDT SME Nation Hackaton
In support to its promotion of technopreneurship, the University, in cooperation with Ideaspacec Foundation, hosted the PLDT SME Hackaton at the Lecture Room, CITE Bldg, Main Campus I, May 29-30.
PLDT, the telephone company which is part of the First Pacific Group of Companies, invited the University to host the said competition since the company believes that it is part of the University’s mission.
In the 2-day contest, students from different fields collaborate to create web solutions to some selected business establishments. It was open to different colleges and universities in the province.
After contest, the judges announced students from Batangas State University as the champion, De La Salle University – Lipa, 1st runner-up, and Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas 2nd runner-up.
Hackaton is a technical term used to describe an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on software projects.

IRCIEST Organizers Call for Papers, Researches
The International Research Conference on Innovations in Engineering, Science and Technology (IRCIEST), BatStateU’s first fully organized and initiated conference, announces the important dates regarding the conference.
The deadline of submission of full paper with structured abstract is on July 15, while the issuance of acceptance to authors of accepted papers is on August 31. On the other hand, the deadline of submission of revised full paper with structures abstract is on September 30. The last day of online registration for presenting and non-presenting participants is on October 31. The conference will be held on November 8-10 at BatStateU Main Campus I.
Submitted research papers for oral or poster presentation shall undergo a blind peer review process by the International Scientific Committee which is composed of a pool of experts around the globe. Selected research papers will be published in our international research journal on engineering, science and technology (IRCIEST).

University has 23 new Chemical Engineers
The University’s Chemical Engineering department has added new laurels to the University’s hat as 23 new chemical engineering alumni passed the May 2015 Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination.

The University got 81.81% passing rate for the first timer examinees and 76.67% passing rate for all of the Borbonian exam takers. The said ratings are relatively high compared to the national passing rate which is 59.01% (239 passers out of 405 examinees).
